Artistic Roller Skating
The Artistic Skating started its development in the Century 18 in England. In the decade of 1860, the American Jackson Haines combined their talents to dance with the skating, and revolutionized the sport by introducing the music, choreography and dance in the ice skating. Jackson is also regarded as the inventor of the modern ice-skating. The first international competition of artistic skating was held in Vienna, Austria in the year 1882.

Among the participants, a Norwegian, Axel Paulsen, drew attention with his performance, giving the famous leap that imortalizou his name. In 1892, at the initiative of the Dutch Federation, was founded the International Skating Federation (ISU), the oldest of the International Federation of winter sports. The arrangement was part of the programme of the Summer Olympics of 1908 in London, but in 1924 came in to the Winter Olympic Games in its 1st edition in Chamonix, France.

The Equipment: To pursue artistic skating on ice you use a pair of skates, where the boot is made of leather, with sole and heel of wood (traditional) because there are already carbon shoe soles. It also uses a pair of sheets of steel to remain under the ice and perform the elements of this sport, generally, the boots are purchased separately from the blades because each patinador feel a need different from another relative stability of boots and about the design of their blades. Use up in Lycra clothing to help the elongation and the achievement of the movement.
